This video was made when text messaging was just becoming popular and the first iPhone wasn’t even released yet. I was living in Chinatown close to the Financial District in Lower Manhattan. From the roof of my building, I could see the Verizon building clearly. As a Verizon customer, the company tried to entice me into text messaging. I was close to the former World Trade Center – before the Freedom Tower was erected. Mass produced commodities were surrounding me on Canal Street – primarily 9/11 paraphernalia and cellphone accessories. In the end, I snapped my RZR phone in half and felt liberated for a moment. That was in 2007.
